Audio-visual Presentation System for SASA in Novi Sad

The branch of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SASA) in Novi Sad was founded in 1992 by merging the Vojvodina Academy of Sciences and Arts and the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts. The Branch is the holder of numerous scientific projects that are realized within SASA or independently. Its activities also take place through the work of scientific and cultural forums and galleries and through the cooperation with scientific and educational institutions.

The branch is housed in the Platoneum building, the endowment of Bishop Platon Atanacković, which is an important cultural heritage edifice. Previously, the building housed the First Serbian Reading Room, Matica srpska, and other Vojvodina educational and cultural institutions.

After the successful implementation of the project of equipping the amphitheater at the SASA headquarters in Belgrade and the client’s satisfaction, which we have already written about, our company was engaged in the project of equipping the Platoneum hall with audiovisual presentation equipment.

SONY VPL-CWZ10 laser projector is the center of the video presentation system. It features a constant brightness of 5,000 lumens and is characterized by small dimensions (371x100x319 mm) and weight (5.7 kg), so it does not disturb the elegant interior of the hall from the last century. The resolution of the projector is WXGA, and the laser light source offers up to 20,000 hours operation without lamp exchange. The Sony's patented BrightEra 3LCD technology delivers crisply clear images with rich and stable colours. The fixture provides a high quality and clearly visible image even in higher ambient light. It has a quick on/off function, so the presentation can start almost instantly. An electric projection screen with a diagonal of 150" and dimensions of 3x2.3 m with a remote control was also delivered. With this equipment, it is possible to project an image in different formats - 4/3, 16/9 or 16/10.

Aten VS482 switch is a central device of the video system that distributes audio and video signals from the computer, platform and desk. The HDMI signal is distributed to the projector via a high-quality HDMI cable, and to the monitor, which is further away, via the appropriate HDMI HBaseT extender and Aten VE801 network cable.

The RCF 3-Way column wall-mounted loudspeakers with a radiation angle of 180x60° and a power of 80 WRMS were also installed. These speakers are an excellent choice when it comes to reproducing speech with a high degree of intelligibility in acoustically "difficult" environments. They are also suitable for playing music with a wide horizontal beam angle for good coverage of the presentation hall.


RCF F 12XR mixing console with a newly developed preamp is the heart of the audio system and it provides a high level of sound quality and dynamics. It has 12 channels with DSP processor and 16 effects, as well as the ability to record to USB memory.


Condenser microphones on a flexible gooseneck are mounted on the speaker’s booth and the chairman’s desk within the anti-vibration housings, as well as wireless microphone systems with a hand-held transmitter are connected to the console’s inputs.

The system is run by an RCF DMA 82 dual-channel D-class matrix amplifier equipped with a DSP processor, which allows operation on the Input/output section and signal equalization. The amplifier provides engagement of default settings for RCF speakers, as well as activation of RCF FiR filters.

The entire system is connected with high-quality Sommer Cable microphone and speaker cables.
