Chauvet Light System for the National Theater in Belgrade

The National Theater in Belgrade was established in 1868 in the very heart of our capital. It represents one of the most important cultural institutions in Serbia, where visitors can watch the most significant operas, dramas and ballets.

  • Client: The National Theater in Belgrade
  • Date of project: 2022

To prepare for the new theater season 2021/2022, the National Theater in Belgrade decided to innovate its existing lighting system. The management decided to purchase the new Chauvet spotlights, having in mind that the Chauvet Maverick MK3 Wash moving heads proved excellent on stage.

After a successful participation in public procurement, our company supplied Chauvet Maverick Silens 2 Profile LED moving head for the theater.

These innovative 560 W LED moving heads feature a CRI>95 and a color temperature of 6,000 K, which makes them extremely suitable for theater and studio applications. They use CMY filters for color mixing, as well as a CTO filter for +/- green adjustment to ensure perfectly rendered skin tones. One of the important features of Maverick Silens 2 Profile is conventional cooling, which distinguishes them from the competition. They have framing shutter system to allow for better framing positioning. Additional equipment of two gobo wheels, frost, iris and prism allows light designers to fully express their creativity. They have an exceptional zoom range of 1:10, i.e., from 5° to 50°, as well as an emulated red shift for a tungsten punch. They are completely fanless and designed to operate in total silence. Their assembly is simple due to the possibility of receiving a wireless DMX signal.

In addition to moving heads, the theater also decided to purchase static LED profile fixtures. They chose Chauvet Ovation E-930VW fixtures, which, in addition to impressive white, also have the ability to change color, which replaces several halogen fixtures without the use of filters. They have 6 LEDs of different colors (red, orange, green, blue, royal blue and lime). By mixing them, an extremely high-quality white color is achieved with a color temperature change from 2,800 K to 8,000 K and a high CRI of 88-92. Each color temperature can be further adjusted for +/- green to perfect the field of light. The profiles are supplied with zoom lenses from 15° to 30°, while the angle of light and focus is adjusted manually. Iris and built-in shutters allow flexibility in manipulating the light beam. These lighting fixtures replace numerous halogen spotlights, while during testing in the theater they proved to be stronger than a halogen lighting fixture with a light source of 2kW. They have many features such as greater flexibility, easier maintenance, lower electricity consumption and stronger functions.

Chauvet spotlights together with the Maverick lighting system will allow light designers enormous creativity during performances on stage and an unforgettable experience for the loyal audience.
