In collaboration with Pro-Ing, AVL Projekt recently acted as a subcontractor on a major project for NIS in Novi Sad, delivering and integrating cutting-edge AV and IT equipment – including a high-performance LED video wall – for their control room.
At the heart of the system is the Unilumin Umicro 0.7 LED video wall, measuring 600 x 168.75 cm. Designed for continuous 24/7 operation, it delivers exceptional image quality and durability. The wall features COB (Chip-On-Board) technology, ultra-high resolution of 7680 x 2160 pixels, 600 cd/m² brightness, and an ultra-fine pixel pitch of just 0.78 mm. With 21-bit processing and a 15,000:1 contrast ratio, it ensures crisp, detailed visuals. The display is also certified for low blue light emission, aligning with health and safety standards for prolonged operator use.
To achieve optimal visual performance, AVL Projekt’s team conducted precise brightness and color calibration, resulting in vivid, balanced imagery tailored to the control room environment.
The AV signal distribution system includes a comprehensive set of technologies:
- A 12x8 HDMI video matrix, allowing flexible routing of input and output video signals. Presets (scenarios) enable dynamic control of display layouts and image geometry from operator computers and an external HDMI panel.
- A USB matrix controller with extenders over Ethernet for remote control of operator computers located in the rack room—ensuring seamless keyboard and mouse interaction.
- An audio system powered by a 12x8 audio DSP processor, an amplifier, and wall-mounted loudspeakers, delivering clear and adjustable sound across the space.
- A wireless video transmission system compatible with all major operating systems, including Miracast-enabled devices.
- A professional control system featuring a dedicated processor and two 10" touchscreens on the operator desk. These interfaces allow full control over video wall content, audio routing, and independent operator access to server-based content through the USB matrix.
To support this infrastructure, a 19" rack cabinet was installed in the rack room, equipped with shelves for multimedia gear and a UPS (uninterruptible power supply). This ensures continued operation during power disruptions, both in the racks and at operator workstations.
The IT integration also included outfitting over 60 workstations with wireless keyboards, mice, headsets, and webcams for video conferencing. Additional equipment included interactive monitors, Sony professional displays on articulating wall mounts for presentation spaces, and a dedicated desk with 15.6" motorized professional monitors with integrated video signal distribution—enhancing monitoring and workflow visibility.
All signal cabling was executed with halogen-free cables, offering enhanced safety and resistance to RF interference, signal crosstalk, and electrical disturbances.
Following installation and commissioning, the AVL Projekt team provided on-site training to the technical staff, ensuring confident operation and maintenance of the system.
